Viewed As A “Canadian Drag Racing Legend” Larry Dobbs Is A Name Synonymous With Ingenuity And Resilience. Over The Past Forty Years Larry Has Evolved Through Many Engine Manufactures & Induction Systems Earning Him The Title As A "True Master" Of The Internal Combustion Engine. With The Aide Of A Mechanical Engineering Degree, Larry Has Worked For General Motors Of Canada For As Long As He Has Been Racing. While Attending The General Motors Institute In Flint Michigan In The Late Sixties, Larry’s Roommate Introduced Him To The Sport. From That Point On Weekends Took On A Whole New Meaning, Campaigning Numerous Stockers, Gassers & Gas Dragsters Throughout The Seventies.

In 1981 He Switch To The Alcohol Funny Car Ranks. The Prior Year The Cleveland Browns Football Team Had One Of The Most Dramatic Seasons In NFL History. For The Last Several Games Of The Season They Always Seemed To Found Themselves Coming Down To Dyer Second Plays To Decide Their Fait. With Grinding Out Wins In The Closing Seconds Led To The Coining Of The Nickname The “Kardiac Kids”. In Remembrance To The Historic Football Team, The Following Year Larry & Long Time Racing Partner Fred Speight Debuted The “Kardiac Kids Funny Car” At Local Match Races.

 

Larry & Crew Chief Fred Won Two Canadian Championships During The Eighties, But In 1990 The “Kardiac Kids” Were Put On The Map Running While Competing On The NHRA Circuit. Qualifying #3 At The Summer National & Advancing To Several Semi-Finals Throughout That Year, The Team Finished Decent In Points Race Despite Running A Limited Schedule. The Team Also Went To The Finals At The IHRA Empire Nationals That Year. In 1991 They Competed In The Full 12 Event IHRA Tour. Winning The First Event Of The Year In Darlington & Becoming The Only Multiple Win Team That Season With A Later Win In North Wilksborough. They Set Both Ends Of The 1/8th Mile World Record In The Process. With A Final Appearance In Jackson South Carolina, The Team Led The Points Chase For 5 Of 6 Months Missing The Championship By Less Than Two Rounds. Ultimately Finishing In Second Place.

Through The Late 90's Right Up Until They Removed The Class From Competition Larry Had Devoted His Efforts Towards The IHRA 'Roots' Funny Car Class & Has Became A Legitimate Contender At Every Event Entered, Earning Top Ten Finishes In Virtually Every Full Season Of Competition, & Finishing In The Top Five In The Final Two Seasons.

The 2008 Season Promised To Be One Of The Most Successful Despite The Increased Competition. With A Revamped Engine Program & Many New 'In-House' Developmental R&D Projects For The Season Larry & Sons Chris, Kevin Saw 5.60's As A Legitimate Goal That Year In IHRA Nitro Jam Competition

On June 13th, 2008 - Larry Dobbs Became The First Ever Roots Supercharged Funny Car To Eclipse The 250 MPH Barrier. Shattering The Previous Fastest Run In History By Nearly 5 MPH. Making The “Kardiac Kids” Funny Car The Fastest Roots Supercharged Car On The Planet. (A Record That Still Stands To This Day)

Moving Forward From The Defunct IHRA Category The Karidac Kids Have Placed All Focus On Repeating Yet Another NDRA Championship, And Competing In The NHRA Mello Yello National Events and Lucus Oil Divisional Series
